Hello!

I'm from a small town in Scotland called Blantyre. I work full time as a Staff Nurse and got married this year to a lovely man named Chris.

I've always been very interested in art of many mediums however my career choice took me in a different direction. At the end of last year I came across some pages on Facebook of artists and some groups were people shared their work and asked for help and advice. I was very impressed with the level of work coming from many people who had taught themselves. I knew I wanted to try and get involved and try creating my own work.

So why pastels? Well, I was originally interested in watercolours but wouldn't have been able to get them to do what I needed them too. I wanted to try fluffy animals and I wanted them to be layered just like fur. I searched for animal art work and found many that had been done with pastels. I loved the softness and texture and some looked incredible real, just like a photo. It blew me away and I knew then that pastels was my medium. I got my first set of pastel pencils and pastels off of my husband at Christmas and have been trying different techniques and subjects since then.

I am by no means perfect and I am still finding my feet but grow in confidence every time I complete a project. It's a big learning curve but so much fun. And messy!
